Prerequisities

This guide assumes minimal AWS knowledge; however, a few prerequisites are required to begin. The first step is to create an AWS account, which is described here.

You can run this tutorial using the root account that is created by default, however AWS best-practices are to firstly assign Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for this root account to increase security but then to create an IAM user and use this for running cases.
A user guide explaining how to create an IAM user and assign the required rights in just a few steps is available here, and this should be done before continuing with this tutorial. At the end of these steps make a note of the login URL for your IAM user or note down your account ID which also be used with your username (e.g. Administrator) and password to login.

Prerequisites and Requirements:

  1. Software licenses (where needed) e.g Simcenter STAR-CCM+ power-on-demand license
  2. Access to the installation files of your code
  3. An AWS account
  4. IAM user with Admin privileges
  5. A computer with internet running Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, or Linux
  6. An Internet browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge
  7. Familiarity with Linux terminal commands
